COURSE OUTLINE
The purpose of the postgraduate diploma thesis is the critical re-examination and review of previously acquired knowledge, the delineation and study of a problem, the interpretation of a phenomenon or situation, and a combination of the above, depending on the topic and the student’s ability in analysis, synthesis, and logical data processing. The most common approaches are the research literature review, experimentation, case studies, and surveys.
The intended objectives, through the completion of the postgraduate diploma thesis, are as follows:
- To enhance the postgraduate student’s ability to address a problem.
- To enhance learning through the study and processing of a significant problem, and to facilitate the acquisition of new knowledge derived from the study.
- To enhance the postgraduate student’s ability to provide complete and correct solutions to problems that may arise.
- To train the postgraduate student in searching for, investigating, selecting, using, and documenting information from bibliographical sources.
- To train the postgraduate student in writing and presenting a text using information and bibliographical sources, without altering the meaning of the information from the original source.
- To educate the postgraduate student in the ability to write not only a thesis of this kind but any type of text that requires scientific thought, the presentation of positions and proposals, the submission of new ideas and directions, and, in general, any type of text that serves the scholarly approach of its author and the promotion of their ideas and proposals.
