COURSE OUTLINE

  1. To compare and contrast ontology, epistemology, and methodology.
  2. To develop an understanding that the acquisition of reliable data depends on proper research design.
  3. To make an informed selection of the appropriate research type to address a specific clinical question.
  4. To integrate ethical principles and codes of conduct for conducting scientific research.
  5. To model a comprehensive literature search.
  6. To structure the stages involved in designing and conducting scientific research, and to calculate the required sample size for obtaining reliable results.
  7. To structure and write a research paper and to be able to present one’s research findings in written and oral form.
  8. To formulate clinical and research questions based on patient needs, existing knowledge, and innovation.
