Academic Calendar

The academic year begins on September 1st and ends on August 31st of the following calendar year. The educational work of each academic year1 is chronologically structured into two semesters of study, the winter and the spring semester. Each semester of study includes 13 weeks of teaching. At the end of each semester, there is a three-week examination period.

The academic calendar specifies the start and end dates of:

  • the winter and spring semester courses,
  • the examination periods for the winter and spring semesters, as well as the September resit examination period,
  • the Christmas and Easter holidays.

The academic calendar also outlines the official public holidays for each semester. The academic calendar is announced before the start of each academic year, following a relevant decision by the Senate of the University of West Attica.
